Best Butlin's Activities

We’re off to Butlin’s in just over 3 weeks (hooray!) so once again I’ve been thinking about Butlin’s activities. This time we are going on a Just for Tots break featuring Mister Maker and I need to get ready to book everything on Plan my Day and the Butlin’s app.

If you would like to know how I book Butlin’s activities you might like to read my article about How to Book Butlin’s Activities here.

I really enjoy reading Butlin’s Just for Tots reviews myself and as we’ve been on a few of these breaks I thought it would be nice to talk about what we are hoping to book and what our 3 year old’s best Butlin’s activities include:

1. Peppa Pig Show at Butlin’s

2. The Butlin’s Swimming Pool

3. Pottery Painting

4. The Butlin’s Arcades

5. Billy Bear’s Playground

6. Play Kitchen with Play-Doh Creations

7. Butlin’s Tots Fairground and Soft Play Area

1. Best Butlin’s Activities – Peppa Pig Show at Butlin’s

The Peppa Pig shows at Butlin’s are so much fun and the last few times we’ve been we watched Peppa’s Sing-along Surprise. However, the show has changed for 2022 and this time we will be trying to book onto Peppa Pig’s Seaside Adventure. How exciting!

Peppa Pig’s Seaside Adventure

Duration: 25 mins

This show must be booked.

2. Best Butlin’s Activities – The Butlin’s Swimming Pool

We’ve been to all of the Butlin’s swimming pools including Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness. They are all pretty good but Splash Waterworld at Bognor is particularly lovely as it was renovated and re-opened in 2019. It’s got an amazing pool just for tots (aged 0-5) and has lots of fun activities for older children and adults too.

The Bognor Regis seaside themed swimming pool includes the Helter Skelter Water Slide, Seaside Garden Rapids, the Wave Pool, Stick of Rock Slides and even a cafe too! We last visited Bognor in May 2021 and the cafe wasn’t open. I wonder if it’ll be open this time when we go?

Swimming at Butlin’s is now freeflow so there is no need to book! Yay!

3. Butlin’s Best Activities – Pottery Painting

Our little girl is obsessed with pottery painting at Butlin’s and she expects to do it every time we go! I think she would be really disappointed if I didn’t manage to book this activity so I have to make sure I grab a slot when the bookings on Butlin’s Plan my Day and the Butlin’s app go live!

Pottery Painting

This must be booked.

There is an extra charge of £10.00 for this activity and you have the option to upgrade to a different piece of pottery. Prices start from £3.00.

4. Butlin’s Best Activities – The Arcades

We spend a lot of time in the Butlin’s arcades, however it’s something our daughter (and I) loves doing so why not? It’s so much fun and I seem to be quite lucky when it comes to winning on those grabber machines! Over the past few years we’ve been to Butlin’s 6 times and during that time we have won a sloth, Nala from the Lion King, a Disney Dalmation, and some Paw Patrol plush toys!

Other activities include 2p and 10p machines, pay as you go fairground rides for tots, video games and loads more!

Paw Patrol Mighty Pups Soft Toys

As some of you may know, our girl is obsessed with Paw Patrol, especially the Mighty Pups so she was over the moon when we won Mighty Marshall and Rubble. At the time she didn’t have any Paw Patrol toys because I had been collecting and hiding them ready for Christmas. That was probably the highlight of our last Butlin’s holiday for her!

Billy Bear's Playground

5. Butlin’s Best Activities – Billy Bear’s Playground

There’s loads of lovely play areas at Butlin’s but one of our favourites is Billy Bear’s Playground which is located next to the Shoreline Hotel (also one of my faves!). The picture above was taken from a partial sea-view room and our daughter loved watching all the kids play from the window.

As well as the usual swings and climbing frame it also has a sandpit with diggers and pots etc so that children can play with the sand too.

6. Butlin’s Best Activities – Play Kitchen with Play-Doh Creations

The Play Kitchen with Play-Doh Creations is such an amazing activity considering there is no extra charge. Children get to make allsorts of Play-Doh goodies from a menu in a pretend kitchen whilst wearing their chef’s apron and hat. During this session the famous Play-Doh ‘Doh-Doh’ makes an appearance and comes over to meet all the kids!

7. Butlin’s Best Activities – The Butlin’s Tots Fairground and Soft Play Area

Whenever we go to Butlin’s the first thing our daughter does is ask to head to the Tots Fairground to go on the planes! It’s her favourite ride and she loves it so much. As well as the planes the Butlin’s Tots Fairground (at Bognor Regis) includes a ladybirds ride, cars ride and a merry-go round. Next door is the soft play area which is for children 1m-1.5m tall. Last time we went this had to be booked.

The Little Stars Fairground

The Little Stars Fairground is freeflow so there is no need to book!

Suitable for: Age 5 & Under

Listed above are the Butlin’s activities and shows etc that our daughter particularly loves. However, there is so much more to do. I’ll make a list of a few extra things below!

Fairground Chair O Plane Ride

The Traditional Fairground

We love the outdoor traditional fairground which includes a few different activities and rides that toddlers can get involved in (probably with the help of a parent or guardian. Our little girl loves the mini Chair-O-Plane Ride, the Arabian Camel Derby (how amazing is that game?) and hook a duck!

At Butlin’s Bognor Regis the outdoor fairground includes the big Chair-O-Plane Ride (as shown above) the Trabant, a Carousel, Rockin’ Tug, trampolines, The Bungee Trampoline, the Waveswinger and the waltzers. There’s also another Butlin’s arcade.

The Camel Game

Arts & Crafts

If Arts & Crafts is available we always go on Butlin’s Plan my Day and book on. This is a free activity where children can explore different textures and materials whilst making things such as paper rockets etc. Our little girl is a massive fan!

Messy Play

This is new to us as I’ve not seen Messy play advertised on any of our Butlin’s breaks before. Apparently it’s designed for tots aged 5 and under. As our daughter loves experimenting with materials and painting etc I’m sure she would love to get stuck in this activity too.

Tot’s Fun Football

We’ve not made it to Tot’s Fun Football yet but it’s definitely on our list of things to do. It’s aimed at ages 2-4 and involves practicing simple skills whilst having a bit of fun.

Mini Bow

We took part in Mini Bow when our daughter was just 2. She thought it was hilarious and laughed all the way through. Kids get an introduction to archery as they learn to fire at targets on the wall.

Balanceability

At Balanceability children learn to cycle whilst riding balance bikes. There’s an extra charge of £6.00 per child for this Butlin’s activity and they get a certificate at the end.

The Butlin’s Tots Disco

I’ve got some really happy memories from the Butlin’s Tots disco and my favourite has to be going to one in August 2019. Our daughter was 11 months old and we danced to loads of fun songs like Help! I’m a Fish (Little Yellow Fish) by Little Trees and classics by Aqua too. The Redcoat made a huge fuss of our little girl and she loved every minute. I highly recommend going to these discos if you get the chance.
